ITANAGAR, Jun 20: The Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court will be remain closed on account on Summer Vacation including Dree Festival from 29th to 10 July 2015. ITANAGAR, Jun 20: “Galos have been the torchbearers in education sector in the state”, said health and family welfare minister Rajesh Tacho as he urged them to continue to lead the state in the field of education.
He was speaking at the annual felicitation function of academic toppers and brilliant achievers amongst the Galos, organised by Galo Welfare Society (GWS) here today.
Tacho advised the students to strive hard for excellence in academics as well as in life.

Bridge connecting Pongging washed away
ITANAGAR, Jun 20: Pongging, one of the remote villages under Upper Siang is cut off from the rest of the world due to sliding away of the connecting bridge due to incessant rain for the last few days. The only Foot Suspension Bridge (FSB) over Yamne River, the lifeline of the village was broken away by the mudslide causing great inconvenience to the villagers.
Local MLA Olom Panyang visited the spot and held a meeting with the villagers for early construction of a new FSB in a safer location and directed the concern authority to prepare the DPR as soon as possible. He also advised the villagers to stay alert to face any natural disaster.

ITANAGAR, June 20: While referring to the news item under the caption “PAWYA withdraws all the allegations against Sports Department” published in a section of local daily on June 17 last, Paktu Ao Youth Welfare Association (PAYWA) and All Galo Students’ Union (AGSU) today said that both the organizations stand on their demands and firmly decided to stand on the joint press conference held in May last. “There is no question of withdrawal of our issues,” said the organizations.

Improve health care system
ZIRO, Jun 20: Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner cum District Health Society (DHS) chairman Kanki Darang has called upon the health staffs to improve the health care system in the district.
Addressing the review meeting of the DHS here yesterday, Darang said although the Lower Subansiri district is the oldest one with good communication facilities, the district is placed amongst the lowest districts in health indicators. He felt the need to improve the health indicator in the district.
He directed all the health facilitators including MOs to effectively supervise the health centres and furnish monthly reports.
While appealing to all the staff to do justice to their duties, he strongly asked the health staff to refrain from absenteeism and to seek proper leave from the concerned authority.

RCH cum awareness camp at Yigi Kaum village
AALO, Jun 20: A team of doctors headed by Dr. Kengo Ori DFWO, Aalo conducted one day Reproductive Child Health Camp cum health awareness camp at Yigi Kaum, a Sansad Aadarsh Village.
Over 110 patients, including two ANCs were screened for various ailments. Students of Upper Primary School, Yigi Kaum Primary School and Children of Anganwadi centre were immunized for vaccine preventable diseases during the day.
Blood samples were also collected randomly from the patients for malaria and other vector borne disease by the staff of DVBDCO.
Besides counseling for family planning, oral and emergency contraceptive pills were distributed among the women.

Seva Dal training ends
ITANAGAR, Jun 20: Altogether 150 newly enrolled City Congress Seva Dal cadres were trained during the two days training programme organised by State Seva Dal at Naharlagun.
Addressing the cadres on their completion of training, Seva Dal Chief Organizer Kipa Kaha exhorted them to be loyal to the party and do their duty with devotion and dedication.
All the trainees were provided with training completion certificates in the concluding day function today.
Earlier, the Seva Dal cadres also took out a road march around Naharlagun Township shouting slogans of Indian National Congress and expressing their solidarity with the State Government.

Stage set for International Yoga Day celebrations
Governor appeals people to participate in Yoga Day for a healthier lifestyle
ITANAGAR, Jun 20: The stage is set for International Yoga Day celebrations tomorrow as India leads 191 countries to mark the day. The day will be observed in over 251 cities in 191 countries across the world and the Indian missions and diplomatic posts have made arrangements for the celebrations and other related events.
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh J P Rajkhowa called upon the people of the state to be part of the International Yoga movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor, who will be participating in the International Yoga Day celebration in IG Park in the State Capital Itanagar said that today, when stress and health related problems are increasing, Yoga is the only ray of hope for facing the enormous challenges. Appealing to the people to participate and start healthier lifestyle, the Governor said that Yoga is truly an invaluable gift of the ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body and promotes harmony amongst the people, and man and nature. It encourages more holistic approach to health and happiness. We need to incorporate Yoga as part of our daily life, he added.
The Governor further said that it is a matter of great pride that the United Nations organisation by an unanimous resolution supported by 177 countries in agreement with the views and appeal of the Prime Minister of India, declared 21st June as the International Yoga Day.
The First Lady of the State Rita Rajkhowa will be participating in the celebration alongwith officials and people of Raj Bhawan complex.
At New Delhi, over 35,000 participants expected to perform various yoga 'asanas' at a mega event on Rajpath. Government will set up 2,000 huge digital 'cinema screens' across Rajpath for people to witness the live streaming of the performance of yoga asanas on Sunday. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gathering, diplomats from 152 foreign missions have been invited to take part in the event which will start at 7 am to 7.35 am.
Given the expected large participation at one place, the Ministry of AYUSH which is coordinating the event, will aim at registering the event into the Guinness World Records for the "largest yoga demonstration or class at a single venue".
All the states have been requested to celebrate IYD simultaneously and to organise similar events at district and panchayat headquarters.
Apart from the government, several organisations will also hold similar yoga events as per their capacity including Ramdev who will hold 1,100 programmes and has targeted reaching one lakh villages, while Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has claimed to reach five crore people. (With inputs from PTI)
Demoralised Police personnel awaits justice

ITANAGAR, June 20: It has been more than a month and half that the aggrieved Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel are to find any justice and solace from the Assam Police investigation for the attack on them on May 1 at Joypur under Dibrugarh district.
Assam police is still clueless and has allegedly initiated no action on the Arunachal Police attack case by a mob on May 1 last. No arrests have been made by Assam police for the case registered with Joypur PS case no 39/2015 U/S 294/341/325/392/34/IPC on May 2nd, 2015.
On being enquired, Jaipur Police Station OC Pradip Kumar Borah confirmed that neither the accused have been arrested nor the 9MM service pistol of SI Saroh has been recovered.
Miffed with authorities of both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, maimed and demoralised SI Saroh had himself written a complaint letter to SP Dibrugarh for the alleged lackadaisical attitude of OC Joypur Pradip Kumar Borah towards the case. He also complained that the OC is unnecessarily harassing him by repeatedly summoning for interrogation whereas the accused whereabouts is yet to be located.
SI Saroh has also expressed displeasure with the authorities of Khonsa police for not persuading the matter so that the miscreants get punished under appropriate sections of law and the police personnel on duty are not demoralised.
When contacted, Khonsa SP informed that he is taking up the matter with the Assam counterparts, such as DIG Assam and SP Dibrugarh. He exuded hope that the Assam counterparts will expedite the case and take stern action against the miscreants.
Till the Assam police counterpart take any action, SI Saroh and his team who were mercilessly beaten by the mob from Assam will have to wait for justice. Along with the team, SI Benji Saroh‘s spirit has shaken with the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) uniform.
SI Saroh is currently undergoing treatment for broken canine teeth, nasal bone fractured and partially broken ear drum at a private clinic in Dibrugarh after being discharged from Assam Medical College. His 9MM service pistol along with the ammunition was also reportedly snatched by the mob.
In the FIR copy, Saroh stated that when he and his team were coming back from Lengakat in Assam on its way to Khonsa, three bikes blocked them near the government higher secondary school gate at Joypur. Despite repeated honking for passage, the youths did not give way. When SI Saroh and Constable Baharali got down, the two bikes fled from the scene and however the youths of the third bike remained back and started to abuse them which led to a scuffle between Baharali and the drunken youth. When Saroh intervened to calm them down, the youth started shouting for help and a mob gathered and started assaulting them. The inebriated youths had allegedly instigated the villagers/mob that the Arunachal Police was beating him unnecessarily. Saroh and Constable Bangyang ran for their lives after the mob brutally assaulted them with bamboo sticks and iron rods.
The incident happened on the evening of May 1, around 8.45 pm, when SI Saroh accompanied by ASI Y. Yongam, Constables L. Bangyang and PrakashBaharali of Arunachal Pradesh Police were coming from Lengakat Police Station after verification of a Vodafone subscriber name for a case at of Deomali PS. Allegedly three Assam police personnel were present at the Joypur Police Station situated around 100 mtrs from the spot where the Arunachal Police team was being attacked by the mob.

UOAP calls for CBI inquiry on financial mismanagement
ITANAGAR, Jun 20: The United Organisation of Arunachal Pradesh (UOAP) has served seven days ultimatum to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to institute an inquiry agency such as CBI to probe the alleged financial mismanagement by Tuki led government Failing to do so would invite unprecedented democratic movement, it threatened. UOAP a conglomeration of many associations strongly condemned the state government for its financial mismanagement leading to financial crisis in the state. In a press conference held at Arunachal Press Club here today, UOAP stated that the state is reeling under a huge financial deficit as a result of the financial mismanagement by the present government.
Delving further into the allegations of financial mismanagement by the incumbent government under Tuki, the chairman of UOAP, Toko Obi said that it is completely unethical for the present government to continue in the office as they have cheated on the electorates who voted them to power. He also stressed that the government has failed to pay the stipend of the students studying in and outside the state, the salaries, TA/DA of the government employees besides the contractor bills. He also alleged gross misappropriation of GPF. The chairman further vowed to be the voice of the people through the union and maintained that their efforts would not stop until they bring a logical end to the mess created by the incumbent government.
The organisations called for the resignation of state chief minister, Nabam Tuki and also appraised the Governor to impose Presidents Rule, which should be further followed by CBI inquiry into the whole gamut of misused funds.

78 eye patients screened for cataract
ITANAGAR, Jun 20: Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti (VKAJ) in association with Lion KK Saharia Eye Hospital, Dibrugarh, Assam organised a free eye screening and dental camp at Kanubari Community Health Centre, Longding Thursday as part of Eknath Ranade’s birth centenary celebration.
A total of 78 patients were screened for cataract out of which 8 were recommended for surgery. The identified patients will undergo cataract surgery free of cost at KK Saharia Eye Hospital, Dibrugarh. The other patients were advised for spectacles. Medicines were also distributed to the eye patients free of cost.
Over 100 patients were also examined for various dental diseases by Dr. Amit Singh, BDS. He gave some important tips to the students about oral hygiene and proper brushing techniques.
The camp was inaugurated by Kanubari ADC SS Choudhury.

Of them, five, namely Jimjang Deru (56kg), Kojum Taba (77kg), Lalu Taku (62kg), Soram Hitlar Tagru (69kg) and Sambu Lapung (69kg) are currently attending national coaching camp at NIS, Patiala for various international events during 2015.
The IWF Vice President did not hesitate to say that the lifters from the state are the best among Indian teams. He was also all praise for AWA and the state government for providing necessary support and facilities to the lifters in terms of equipments.
“Even in Guwahati, Assam we do not have such facilities,” he said.
Abraham K Techi, who has been retained as President of AWA for another term, credited whatever achievement made so far to dedicated AWA team, its coaches/trainers and the support extended by the state government led by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
AKA President Likha Tara highlighted the vital role of coaches in honing talents of players. He advised the coaches and trainers to take their job as challenge and produce at least one or two players, who can represent the state or country at national and international level competitions.
Arunachal Wushu Association President Toko Teki, Information Commissioner M Linggi, AKA general secretary L Marik also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Earlier, AWA general secretary Daniel Teli, who was also retained in his post, presented the annual reports.
The meeting was also attended by Sports and Youth Affair Joint Director Ramesh Linggi, Arunachal Olympic Association Secretary General, Geshi Doke, AWA district level office bearers, coaches and former lifters.
